Oskar Fitts is a pseudonym that Renske Versluijs and Lieke Zonnenberg (founders) have used to create their fashion brand. By creating Oskar as a 'real' person with a specific character and vision, they have created a fictive designer with which they can both identify. They design through his eyes, through his view on the world. Constantly looking through the eyes of Oskar stimulates them to break with their conditioned way of perceiving and designing. Their routine thinking patterns are questioned and this is why Oskar Fitts is their ultimate inspiration. He challenges them to discover and create in an unconventional manner.
All his findings are kept in an archive which provides the basis of his collection.
As art director I was part of creating the concept behind the brand and I maintained the visual material (identity) around the brand.
This photoshoot is based on my thesis where the twin relationship is used as a metaphor for how women relate to the fasshionworld. All concepts in this thesis are visualized in the photoshoot and used throughout the book.

We started by going over the building plans and developing an understanding of how the house was used. In order to meet with the client's standards we had the wall taken down between the second bedroom and the kitchen creating a nice big kitchen with space for a dining table. The bathroom was remodeled and again a wall was taken down and the door opening was moved into the bedroom, creating a natural transition between the bath and the bedroom.
For decoration we chose ‘rough and honest’ materials as opposed to ‘sweet and frilly’ with some happy sparkling tones in between. We were looking for a balance between feminine, tough and playful. Included are the end results and the colour / material card.
This photoshoot was a school assignment in my 3rd year where I worked together with Lieke Zonnenberg and Maud Neuvel to realize this project. The shoot is called ‘numb’ is this is where we based the model, styling and atmosphere on.

Where Is The .. (or, WIT) is a platform for upcoming artists and an organization that organizes theme parties. Aldo Bruining and Roxanna van Erp are the founders of WIT.
I helped them to create the concept behind the platform and design its visual identity. Woolfje, the wolf cartoon in the imagery that can be found in various flyers and posters, is based on the personality of Aldo (founder of WIT) and is always part of the party.
These illustrations were made as start of each chapter for the book 'we are one but no the same'. I made the partly drawn fonts to fit the idea behind the book, namely the balance between strict and rigid versus open, free and hand drawn.
Bibi Straatman finished her thesis and may now use the title 'doctor'. Of course this demanded a website to upload articles, share thoughts, quotes and concepts.
The concept behind the website is in line with how her thesis can be read; you can open whatever page or start in whatever chapter, and because how it is written it invites you to step in any part of her story. I helped Bibi to translate this into the concept of a one page website that give visitors the opportunity to scroll around Bibi's virtual space. In the website this gives the viewer the freedom to interpret each screen for themselves and start and stop on any part of the page creating their own screen boundaries. The last picture is an overview of the website.

The Hogeschool van Amsterdam has a department called Hogeschool van Amsterdam Sport. I restyled their corporate identity in 2009 and did all the graphic work and illustrations for their annual booklets, posters, and cards over 2009 until 2011.
Because they were part of the Hogeschool all their visual communication needed to be aligned with their corporate identity.
The circulation was about 2000 booklets and cards and I was responsible for the production and deadlines.
Felientje is a webshop that sells children’s clothing and other things like toys, bedding and bags. I redesigned their logo and created an illustration which is now used on flyers, cards and as part of their packaging material.
This imagery is vraious stuff, either done as an assignment, still back from my acedemy years or just stuff at random. So, various it is, although I have tried to explain a little in the title which you can see when you click the image.
